Welcome to The Homeschool Graduate, where we’re all about helping parents considering homeschooling transition smoothly into their first year of home education.
The Homeschool Graduate is openly welcoming of ALL homeschool families. Educational consultant Beth McCarter was homeschooled growing up and her philosophy can be described as inclusive. She is present in many homeschooling spaces with a wide variety of belief systems.

Beth McCarter
Founder and CEO
I’m Bethany West McCarter, homeschool blogger and creator of The Homeschool Graduate. I’m the lead writer and education consultant on the site.
I taught over seven years in the public school classroom and two years at the adult education level. After that, I pulled both my kids out of school and began teaching them at home. We now travel the world while we homeschool, a growing phenomenon known as “worldschooling”.
I was homeschooled for almost my entire grade school education, and after graduating with over 18 credits in education from Texas Woman’s University and earning over 60 graduate-level course credits in school psychology from the University of Oregon, I became a certified teacher.
I have specializations in Spanish K-12, English as a Second Language, and Special Education as well as a generalist certification for grades EC-6. I’ve attended countless trainings on dyslexia intervention and other educational topics. I’ve also traveled internationally to observe school systems in other countries. Needless to say, I’m obsessed with education.
When I’m not scheming about how to be a better educational consultant for homeschoolers, you’ll find me planning my next international trip or reading a great historical fiction book.

Richard “Adam” McCarter
Writer and STEM expert
Hi, I’m Adam McCarter, resident homeschool dad and writer at The Homeschool Graduate. I’m an educational consultant for middle and upper grades.
After graduating with an interdisciplinary degree with an emphasis in math from Texas Woman’s University, I became a certified teacher. I have the credentials to serve grades 4-8, teach Technology Education in grades 6-12, and work with special education students grades EC-12. I’m also a certified Gifted and Talented educator.
During the almost 10 years I taught in the classroom, I lead an after school gaming club to provide a safe space for students who didn’t want to attend the Friday night football games (something that’s really big in our state). I’ve spoken at multiple educational conferences on the topics of gamification and STEM.
Now, I work from home as specialist for an educational staffing company where I coach substitutes be the best educators they can be for schools all across the United States. I also help homeschool my two children, and this year I’ve taken on both their science and math education.
